Rooted in the heart of Paris, Place des États-Unis is a refined residential project that delicately merges the elegance of Haussmannian architecture with a distinctly contemporary sensibility.
The client's brief called for a space that would feel warm yet structured, understated yet full of intention—a home that prioritizes tactile experience and clarity of form.
From the outset, the design focused on restraint and material coherence.
The intervention sought not to compete with the building's classical bones but to bring calm, precision, and modern rhythm into its interior life.
Light oak, travertine, and soft textiles were selected for their visual quietness and their ability to age gracefully.
The natural palette—anchored in sandy tones and mineral textures—allows light to diffuse with warmth and continuity throughout the space.
The plan was carefully reconfigured to optimize flow and function, creating distinct yet connected living areas.
The generous living space is centered around a custom monolithic sofa flanked by travertine side units, echoing the geometric language carried throughout the apartment.
Integrated storage and shelving blend seamlessly with the architecture, concealing daily life while maintaining visual clarity.
One of the primary challenges was integrating contemporary interventions into a historic context without disrupting its architectural rhythm.
Rather than restoring ornamental elements, we chose to abstract the classical through proportion, balance, and rhythm, reinterpreting luxury through material honesty and spatial silence.
Construction relied on a tight dialogue between design and craft.
The travertine elements—cut, honed, and assembled on site—became structural gestures within the rooms, not decorative accents.
Custom furniture and joinery were developed to meet exacting tolerances, ensuring that transitions between materials were seamless.
Ultimately, Place des États-Unis reflects a commitment to timelessness over trend.
It is a domestic space that values quietude, intentionality, and the subtle power of natural materials.
In every detail, the design seeks not to impose, but to reveal—a lived-in simplicity, thoughtfully constructed.
