English description provided by the architects.
Located in the Cabañal neighborhood of Valencia, just a few meters from the sea, this small space on Barraca Street is a meeting point for different disciplines—a flexible environment where design, ceramics, and creation coexist.
From the start, the owner had a clear vision: it had to be an open, multipurpose, and ever-evolving space, capable of hosting anything from a shop to a graphic design studio, while also allowing for activities like workshops or yoga classes.
The intervention was conceived from the essence of the original space, respecting its materiality and structuring the design around the Theory of the Five Elements. Earth, metal, wood, fire, and water shape the proposal and define the atmosphere.
The entrance opens directly into the shop, where three aluminum shelves serve as displays alongside two key pieces—the Wassily Chair by Marcel Breuer and the Mono Chair by Objects & Ideas—which encapsulate the project's identity.
The first, an icon of the Bauhaus, brings an industrial, tubular, and precise character, while the second, made of solid wood, evokes material purity and contemporary design with Scandinavian nuances. These contrasting chairs frame the duality that defines Noas Studio.
Earth is expressed through ceramics, the core and essence of the space, connecting us with raw material in its purest state.
Metal, both heavy and light, appears in steel shelves and exposed industrial-style fixtures, as well as in the Wassily Chair.
The partition door separating the office from the workshop follows the same design language as the exterior carpentry.
Wood adds warmth through shelves and tables, recalling the sustainability and natural essence of the Mono Chair.
Fire, present in the ceramic kiln, gives meaning to the creative cycle, but it is also reflected in the lighting.
Without ceiling fixtures, the atmosphere is crafted through suspended lights, wall sconces, and floor lamps, creating a cozy ambiance.
Over the workshop, large paper lanterns float gently, filling the space with diffused light. Water is reflected in movement.
Light curtains divide and transform the space fluidly, evoking the ebb and flow of the sea and its connection to this maritime neighborhood of Valencia.
The space created for Noas Studio is defined by its balance between industrial and organic, structured and versatile.
