Designed by campus architect Edward Killingsworth’s office and constructed in 1987, the 50,000 square-foot building served as the University’s former North Library.

While not a mid-century building, its overall massing is complimentary to the Killingsworth-planned campus.

The building’s most recent role as a student services center, named after campus president Steve Horn, has provided students a consolidated hub for academic counseling, learning assistance, and the largest computer lab on campus.

In 1993, the University Art Museum (UAM) was relocated into the Horn Center and served the campus with contemporary exhibitions and displays of student work.

As the campus continued its transition in offering top-tier academic services, Pfeiffer worked with the University to renovate the Horn Center with ten new classrooms and two new lecture halls.

The expansion and renovation of the art museum, made possible by an endowment by artist and philanthropist Carolyn Campagna Kleefeld, also established new seating areas and a sculpture garden in the north and south courtyards.
