The design of AB Games headquarters in Kyiv, Ukraine aims to break the stereotype of rainbow-colored offices for most tech companies and show how a creative spirit can reside in a sophisticated interior.
Open-space office with a view over hilly green shores of the Dnipro river uses black color as a canvas and high-end furniture to emphasize the elegant and classy style of the project.
To keep the playful DNA of the international gaming developer, designers looked to a world of famous legends and iconic film characters, such as Star Wars.
The biggest pride of the tech company is the location of the headquarters – historical hills of the capital city.
According to the legend, Kyiv was established here in the 5th century by three brothers, when eldest of them Kyi gave his name to a new settlement.
Gaming developer supports a practice of an unfixed workplace, the employees’ freedom to work whenever and wherever they want.
Therefore, architects dedicated a large part of the space to social interaction areas, such as.
Canteen, library, bar, kitchen, few spacious terraces, and meeting rooms.
The red corridor with LED backlight serves as a portal between the actual work zones and informal common spaces, a transformation between two states - relaxation and labour.
Everybody`s favourite place in the office is a built-in bar called “DoubleWin”, where every morning a professional barista is preparing a freshly brewed coffee, while at night serves some own recipe cocktails.
The “Katleta” kitchen is named after traditional Ukrainian meat patties.
The library holds a wide selection of comics and fantasy books.
The restrooms have changeable indicators on the doors, inspired by the Star Wars` characters and developed by own design team.
The biggest challenge was to fit the light requirements for the digital artists, who needed an absolutely neutral lighting temperature in the space.
No shadows, no reflected light or sun glare. Design studio ran multiple experiments to confirm the final lighting solutions.
The CEO`s room style stands out against the rest of the office interior with the neutral beige colour theme and minimalist ambiance.
